A D&D character desgin from the random prompt "Boisterous Half-Elf Monk from a Slave Market who can't stand Silence". A fun work of practicing concept art ideas!
Final Design from the Prompt "Boisterous Half-Elf Monk from a Slave Market who can't stand Silence"
From the prompt, I started exploring some shapes. Quickly me and my friends discovered that him being bulkier was way cooler than him being leaner.
After we discovered his overall shape, I started exploring his clothing design.
After that, I did a quick color check to see which color would be cooler. I already knew his skin color, so I didn't really experiment with it.
After his clothes, I had to know how his weapon would work. First what is the connection between the chains and the pole? I liked the idea of the connection resembling shackles, so I went with the third design.
Also, what would be attatched to the chain? The thought of a prisioner chain and ball crossed my mind, but was reminded of bells, specifically chinese bells. Him using bells as main weapons fitted so well with the last part of the prompt I didn't go back.
Having all of that sorted, the final design looked solid.
